Centro Educativo Maria Imaculada El Alto

The Nuns of Maria Imaculada run four day-care centres in the city of El Alto, La Paz.

Friends of Bolivia provides funds to help pay for food and medical care for the children.  We have installed central heating and radiators in all the classrooms, and have covered the patio with a glass roof so that it can be used for activities in all weather conditions.

Additional Project – Boliven

Insulin and blood sugar level testing kits are very expensive in Bolivia.  Boliven helps by providing support and equipment to diabetics who lack the funds to properly manage their condition.

Friends of Bolivia provided the funds to purchase insulin for a number of patients.

Additional Project – Proyecto Cañaviri

This project is to rebuild a school in the town of Cañaviri in the department of La Paz.

Friends of Bolivia contributed to the construction costs of the project, which when completed, will offer students accommodation, a communal oven and green houses in which the students can grow their own food.

Additional Project – Centro Infantil San Miguel

This Centre provides nursery facilities to young working women in the southern zone of La Paz city.

Friends of Bolivia contributed to the establishment of a medical fund for the nursery.

Additional Project – Hospital del Niño de La Paz

This is a specialist hospital for children, which treats children from all over Bolivia.  Treatment is free, however parents are required to pay for medicines.

Friends of Bolivia has contributed to a fund that provides medicines for children whose parents cannot afford to pay.

Additional Project - Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a project that helps adolescents after they have left their orphanages.  The project helps the youngsters settle down, find accommodation and work, and many go on to study in universities.

Friends of Bolivia has helped to pay for one year of rent of the office, and has contributed to a fund for medical attention that may be needed by the adolescents.
